The HTC Thunderbolt comes with an 8 megapixel camera and HD video recording. Let's see how good it looks.

We will start with picture quality that comes packed with 8 megapixel of goodness. The pictures look good. I shot a lot of these photos on a very gray and foggy day. Colors are correct and are vibrant when you are taking pictures up close to the subject but going a bit further away by just a few feet the picture can look a tad blurry. Beware using flash on anything that gives a reflection as it will give you a bright object with a dark blue background. The camera application itself is very simple to use and give easy access to different effects to shoot pictures with and is much more useful than the standard android camera app.

Now for the 720p HD video recording. First you will want to go into the camera settings under video and make sure that it set to record in 720p as it's not set by default for whatever reason. Video also looks good with no lag and even came out great on a very grey and reliability crappy New England weather. Audio is also excellent and better than a lot of cameras out their phones, pocket camcorders and digital cameras. The mic is up there the Blackberry Playbook cameras and the Nokia E7 cameras. The video app is apart of the camera app and options are exactly the same as you can choose different fun filters to shoot video with for different effects.

With so many high-end devices coming out and with similar features the camera quality is becoming a key area of competition. I really like the app as its fast, easy to switch between video and pictures and choosing different shooting options is easy to use. The HTC Thunderbolt camera stands out very well and can competition with the rest of the competition out there.
