Cincinnati, OH Local 48 hosts a Fire Ops 101 to help kick off the 52nd IAFF convention.

The Fire Fighter Cancer Support Network has resources to help fire service members and their families in the aftermath of cancer diagnosis.

IAFF Convention delegates heard from Dallas TX Local 58 member Tracy Beard who was diagnosed with ALS in January 2014. Beard said that he has always worked hard for MDA, but has now seen first-hand all of the good work that they do not just for patients with neuromuscular dystrophy, but for the families. He called on the membership to continue to work hard for MDA.

We asked IAFF Convention delegates what their local has done to boost the public's image of fire fighters and promote their value in their community.

Not only is the IAFF Financial Corporation Booth filled with information on retirement plans and other services, but staff there are giving fantastic prizes away to some lucky visitors.

Cincinnati Local 48 was well-prepared to ensure that convention delegates had everything they needed when they arrived. They also planned some fun events.

Sixteen current and past IAFF local leaders were presented with the prestigious IAFF Local Leadership Award during the 52nd Convention in Cincinnati. The Local Leadership Award program honors active and active-retired local officers who have dedicated more than 15 years to their local or state affiliate. Awards are given to one local leader from each of the IAFF's 16 districts.
